Etsy has developed a new feature called Team Pages.
Team Pages is platform that will help the team Curator create one-of-a-kind shopping collections to promote to buyers. Like a blog or website, the Team Page has a unique URL that you can share with anyone. It’s a place to direct buyers who discover your team through social media, meet your group at an event, or strike up a conversation with an individual team member.
The Lists that are created on the Team Page will showcase our group’s products in an organized, “shoppable” way that buyers will love to browse.
Currently, items will be selected from the NEW LISTINGS thread and for a selection to be made and posted to the TEAM PAGES, the members must be following all of The Promotion Team rules and of course be a member of our team and be a regular and frequent participator in the team.
You will be able to share the unique URL link on your Facebook, twitter or blog pages or with anyone.
As time goes on, the lists names and/or rules may change.
There is no need to send any convo’s to The Promotion Team to be included in the TEAM PAGES, your participation into the NEW LISTINGS thread will be evident enough of the “continued participation” requirement. However, if you have any questions, please send me a convo.
Here is the link to the TEAM PAGES
Now just because a shop or member “Favorites” your shop or listing does not necessarily mean that they are interested in it, especially if they are “FOLLOWING” you. So sending them a convo suggesting that item is on sale or thanking you for adding it to your Favorites is not in good form and is frowned upon in the Etsy community and may be understood as “spam” by the recipient of that convo and they might just report it to Etsy.
This is a great way for the person that has “FOLLOWED” you and then “Favorited” your shop and listings to promote you…..yes you….to others that are are “FOLLOWING”
When you “FOLLOW” and then you “Favorite” their shop or listings, they will now appear on the Activity Feed IF you do not have your privacy settings set to private, where no one can see your favorites. If you have your “Favorites” set to PRIVATE, then you are wasting your time “Favoriting”, unless they are just for your personal use or reference, because they will not show to those you have “FOLLOWED” thru their Activity Feed.
As long as a member of THE PROMOTION TEAM continues to “FOLLOW” the team, the team will continue to “FOLLOW” you and “Favorite” your items and shop and thus promote your items to others.
There has been much talk and concern about the “resellers” on Etsy in many Etsy forum discussions as can be seen here:
One way that you as a shop owner can help prevent this is through your “FOLLOWS”. Yes, it is nice to have an ever increasing number of shops that have included you in their Follow list, but have you given much thought about some of those shops that FOLLOW you could be a reseller and just want to see what interests you and what shows up in that resellers Activity Feed once they have you FOLLOWED you?
In running The Promotion Team I have noticed that many “off shore” shops FOLLOW The Promotion Team , then one day the light went on. I came to the conclusion that these “off shore” shops want to see what activity is going on in the team by watching their Activity Feed after including us in their FOLLOW list, why?, so as to copy/mass produce items of interest.
So what can be done about this? “Block” their FOLLOW
When someone adds you to their FOLLOW list they can be blocked by clicking on the “block (shopname)” link located at the bottom left hand menu bar on their “Profile” page. Please note that a shop must first be FOLLOWING you in order for you to block them, they cannot be blocked any other way.
I go through and check who is FOLLOWING on a regular basis to see if there are any questionable shops that have FOLLOED the team and then “block” them in efforts to protect us all.
As shown in the link in a previous blog post which shows the members of our team that have curated a Treasury and have been featured on the front page of Etsy, our team will also feature that member and their curated Treasury at the top of our teams home page. In addition with that mention, those members will receive a bit more promotion of their shop and items from the leadership of our team.
Members that achieve front page status will be in the “mention” position for at least 24 hrs until replaced by another member who’s Treasury made it to the front page.
The following is a copy/past from a member of our team that explains is this way:
Courtesy of TheDreamTeamBNR ( www.etsy.com/people/TheDreamTeamBNR )
“A BNS is a treasury list that’s called Buy and Stay. People buy in order to get a spot on the next treasury list or people buy because they want the item and it’s just a bonus to be featured! The best part of a BNS is even if you don’t have a shop or want to be featured most of the stores give away coupons like percentages off or free shipping for purchasing from a BNS so you luck out on an awesome deal that you wouldn’t get just being a regular buyer from the store!
To get on the treasury you find a shop you want to purchase from (doesn’t have to be the item featured could be anything in the shop) and buy it. You copy the transaction number from the purchase and then something from your shop then gets featured in the next round and hopefully bought out by someone else! Don’t forget to include how much spent depending on what the Minimum is and your coupon code for the next round!
A BNR is a treasury list that’s called Buy and Replace. People buy in order to get a spot on the treasury list or people buy because they want the item and it’s just a bonus to be featured! The best part of a BNR is even if you don’t have a shop or want to be featured most of the stores give away coupons like percentages off or free shipping for purchasing from a BNR so you luck out on an awesome deal that you wouldn’t get just being a regular buyer from the store!
To get on the treasury you find a shop you want to purchase from and ask the curator if you can shop – then you pick something in the shop that’s listed in the feature (doesn’t have to be the item featured could be anything in the shop) and buy it. You copy the transaction number from the purchase and then something from your shop then gets featured and hopefully bought out by someone else! Don’t forget to add your coupon code!
This is not your traditional treasury. The shops that are featured in the treasury are available to be shopped from in order to get your store featured in the treasury. So anyone with a shop that wants to be featured in the treasury would buy in. It’s kind of like buying ad space but getting a present also!
So say you wanted to buy something from a shop that is featured in the treasury – you would go the comment section – ask to shop that store. When you get permission you then buy an item from the store you chose. After you are done purchasing etsy shows you a receipt of transaction. On that page there is a transaction number that you would copy and paste in the comment section of the treasury. That’s just a way for the Curator to make sure you actually did make a purchase. Then your shop gets featured in place of the shop you bought from! This is for a BNR (Buy and Replace).
You would do the same thing in a BNS (Buy and Stay) but instead of being featured in the treasury right away, you get featured in the next round!
We feature members of our team on our front page and in a thread called FRONT PAGE. Those are the spots our members will get recognized in when their Treasuries make the front page of Etsy.
Many account holders on Etsy choose not to install a Profile Picture on their profile and without this, it makes it very time consuming to find their shop in Craftcult.com . Craftcult.com is the website that is used to show us what Treasuries have made it to the front page at any given time or date. Members of Etsy without a Profile Picture in their profile will just show up in Craftcult.com as a generic red heart. What we do when we look to see if our members Treasuries have made it to the front page is to look at the Profile Picture and compare it to our members Profile Picture, if it matches they are a member and we then go to the next step. When a Etsy member does not have a Profile Picture installed, we will have to then look at their shopname and compare that with all of our membership shopnames…..and that is process that we will not do as it is to time consuming as Etsy does not have a way to “search” to find a particular member of a team once they are in your team.
So the bottom line is, if any potential member seeks to gain access to our team, they must have a Profile Picture in their Etsy profile.
Hello to all
The Promotion Team is an established team on Etsy.com and can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/9342/the-promotion-team . The purpose of this team is to promote yourself and your fellow members of our team through the posting of your listings that you have for sale, your renewed listings, your social network links and Treasuries.
Their are two ways to get yourself into the team. One is by invitation and the other is to apply directly to the team, both of which requires you to be an Etsy member which is free. When either method is used to gain access to the team, the potential member will be asked 2 application questions. The only criteria in being accepted or rejected is correctly answering both questions. If a potential members application is rejected, they may re-apply after they re-read the questions a bit closer.
This is a very exclusive team and we only want members who would like a clean and uncluttered team, those that are familiar with most of Etsy’s members other teams and main forums will know what I mean about cluttered, so understanding the rules before the member posts is very important and will save the member and leaders much time.
Members are removed from the team only for one reason:
1. They state that they have or will read the rules of the team prior to posting in the team, but as evidenced in there posting some rules have not been followed or understood. It is best if the members sends an email (convo) through Etsy to the team Captain or ask a question in the GENERAL QUESTIONS thread in the team if they are in doubt about how some of the rules will apply to their first or subsequent posts into the various threads in the team. When this is not done, much wasted time occurs and often this is very frustrating for the members and they are removed from the team.
One of the goals for members that are interested in posting their Treasuries on Etsy is for that Treasury to make it to the FRONT PAGE as can been seen here: http://www.etsy.com/?ref=si_home . This exposure can be seen by all of the Etsy members and can be extremely important in the promotion of your shop and the 16 other shops that you feature in that Treasury. Our members are featured on the front page of our team, as seen here as an example: http://www.etsy.com/teams/9342/the-promotion-team that have had their Treasury feature on the front page of Etsy and will remain featured on our front page until replaced be another member that makes it to the front page.
